Randy Thurman is a successful CEO of major global corporations, recognized entrepreneur and ex-USAF combat fighter pilot. As a CEO, Thurman has an exceptional track record of creating shareholder value, developing leadership talent and creating results-oriented business cultures. Most recently he has dedicated his career to the private equity industry focused in healthcare and related technologies. He has built businesses globally through product development, acquisitions and integration of culturally and geographically diverse entities. Thurman is recognized as experienced in all aspects of corporate governance.  Highlights include:

  • As President of both Rorer and Rhone-Poulenc Rorer Pharmaceuticals, generated the highest total return to shareholders of any company in the industry over a decade. Led the acquisition of Revlon Healthcare Inc.
  • As CEO of Corning Life Sciences, led the industry consolidation in both the clinical diagnostics and contract pharmaceutical research segments. Created over $2 billion in previously unrecognized, incremental shareholder value upon the spin-off of both businesses.  Completed 15 acquisitions.
  • As founder, Chairman and CEO of VIASYS Healthcare Inc., built a global diversified medical technology business recognized as one of the 10 best investments in any industry during the decade. Completed 14 acquisitions.
  • Integrated U.S. and French-based companies and became the only American to lead a French, government controlled company.
  • Named an E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year.
  • Served as Chairman and/or director in more than 15 public and private companies. Graduated from the Wharton Director Institute.
  • Highly experienced in shareholder activism with companies such as ICN Pharmaceuticals, Allscripts Inc., Halliburton, Baker Hughes and Horizon Pharmaceuticals.
  • Has led or had a lead role in private equity transactions representing over

$1 billion in invested capital.

  • Authored articles “The Unique Nature of Small Company Boards,” “What Fighter Pilots and the Best CEO’s have in Common” and “How a CEO Must Manage the Board.”
  • Flew over 140 missions and 420 hours in combat as a USAF fighter pilot.

Thurman is married with three children. His wife leads “The Giving Tree Foundation” dedicated to South Africa’s children. All three of his children have MBAs and are successful business leaders. He is a licensed airline transport pilot and actively flies his own single pilot plane internationally.

Thurman serves on the board of Island Green Living Association (IGLA).
