Biography

Recycling and community service have been in Jason’s life since high school. After leaving the military, he joined a Seattle startup doing closed loop nursery plastics recycling and home composting education. Later Jason co-founded Saxtons River Peace and Justice in Vermont, leading a weekly educational series for four years on diverse topics such as community gardening, sustainable farming, water scarcity, community owned power and internet co-ops, plastic and metals recycling, human rights, voter registration drives, anti-war and indigenous people’s movements and protests, women and minority rights, and judicial reform. He also served as an elected Village Trustee for 3 years.

Jason is committed to helping his community thrive amid climate change and other environmental issues. He sits on the board of Sing St. John and works with The Friends of the Virgin Islands National Park helping to support cultural, historic, and environmental education. As Recycling Program Manager at Island Green Living, he is working towards the goal of a net zero waste, carbon neutral territory.

Jason came to St. John with his wife Kristen in 2014.
