St. John, USVI – November 19, 2024 – Island Green Living invites the community to attend a valuable presentation by Dr. Laura Martin this Saturday on how to incorporate Vetiver grass to improve sustainable agriculture and landscaping in the territory. The event will take place at Gifft Hill School at 11.30 am. Vetiver is a non-invasive tropical grass that is used successfully worldwide for erosion control, water conservation, slope stabilization, water remediation and protection of roads & ponds.

The Vetiver presentation is supported through a grant from Southern SARE (Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education) and Island Green Living is organizing the event, which will spread the word about this versatile and useful grass to the community.

Attendees will also learn how they can apply for an on-farm workshop to learn how to maintain and propagate the grass and to obtain free plants.

The community is encouraged to attend in person at Gifft Hill School, Upper Campus, Rte 104, Cruz Bay, St. John. They may also attend via Zoom by contacting Dr. Laura Martin for the link at lm6419@aol.com.

Celebrating 20 years in operation this year, Island Green Living Association is a registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization on St. John dedicated to sustainability throughout the USVI and beyond. www.islandgreenliving.org.
